Termites

Often called white ants, termites devour timber and any material containing cellulose, and they are active every day of the year. Left untreated, they cause serious structural damage to your property.

How termites are treated

After a full site analysis we recommend the best option - including our environmentally friendly Termite Interception and Baiting System that monitors, intercepts and eliminates termites, with regular monitoring visits.

Where there is access beneath the building we apply Chemical Termite Soil Treatments, creating a treated zone that can stay active for up to eight years. Live termites in timber are treated with Termite Dusting over several visits across 4–8 weeks.

Good to know

Termites: the facts

Signs of an infestation

  • Pencil-width mud tubes running across walls, foundations and concrete - subterranean termites build these to retain moisture as they travel from the soil to their food.
  • Frass (termite droppings) that looks like sawdust or coffee grounds - often the first visible sign of drywood termites.
  • Small piles of discarded wings near windows and doors after a swarm, plus timber that sounds hollow or sags.

Did you know

  • Termites are active 24/7, 365 days a year.
  • They eat any material containing cellulose - not just structural timber, but also paper, cardboard and furniture.
